In March 2013 my father, Charles Ford, Participated in a Saint Bladrick's event after my sister told him the story of her co-workers niece Katherine who was a Childhood cancer survivor. He didn't know much about the event or organization but he loved children and was sadden to hear what this young woman had gone through so young. After Shaving his head and spending the day with the families of survivors, he was so overwhelmed with emotion he vowed that this would be a yearly tradition and started planning different fund raising ideas, he planned to let his thinning hair grow into a Poney tail.
On July 31st, 2013 my dad passed away very unexpected. We were all fortunate as a family to be by his side when he passed through Heavens gates. One of my last promises to him before he passed was that in 2014 I would take his place in the Saint Baldrick's event which he looked forward to participating in. I was terrified to shave off all my hair but this was for my dad whom I adored from the moment I first opened my eyes as an infant.
What started as a tribute to my dad turned into one of the most amazing days of my adult life. I was so touched by the strength and love of all these people who had struggled so hard to help their children survive. I believe in this cause, every child should have the opportunity to reach adulthood. The donations of our sponsors make such a difference in so many young lives.
March 26th is the day I'm shaving my head to raise money for childhood cancer research! Did you know that kids' cancers are different from adult cancers? It's true. And childhood cancer research is extremely underfunded. So I decided to do something about it by raising money for cures.
Now I need your help! Will you make a donation? Every dollar makes a difference for the thousands of infants, children, teens, and young adults fighting childhood cancers.
