Family, friends, acquaintances, and whoever else I've added to my social networks! As some of you may know, my beautiful little daughter Sloan was diagnosed with a brain tumor back in June. We've been going through treatment and things have been going well, but, (and I've said this on our CaringBridge page before), childhood cancer is way bigger and more painful than our journey. My eyes have seen so many children who don't deserve to deal with the life they've been handed, but they do with a smile.
So in that knowledge, I'm doing something for them. My birthday is in a little less than 2 weeks (March 12th). On March 3rd
, an amazing charity called St. Baldricks is doing a event where people can get their heads shaved for the cause. And I'm stepping up. That's right, my beautiful flowing locks (ok... maybe more my poofy mess of a head that was due for a haircut anyway) is going under trimmers. And I'm trying to raise money for this.
So if you've ever thought I was cool enough to warrant a birthday gift, donate. If you've ever met Sloan and thought she was neato, donate. If you just want to donate to a good cause and feel great today, donate! I'm aiming big for this. $2500 in 5 days. I put down the first $100, but now I'm asking for you to help me out!
Finally, a little snippet from St. Baldricks themselves. "Did you know that kids' cancers are different from adult cancers? It's true. And childhood cancer research is extremely underfunded. So I decided to do something about it by raising money for cures. Now I need your help! Will you make a donation? Every dollar makes a difference for the thousands of infants, children, teens, and young adults fighting childhood cancers."
