(UPDATE- February 20.....
Ok, you guys blew away my $500 goal so I'm looking for a new incentive. So......
I know I told my niece this wasn't on the table, but I'm putting it on the table now: You guys get me to $1,000 and I'll shave off the goatee. $1,500 and I shave off the mustache as well. You want bald AND baby-faced? Gonna cost ya!)
Hope you all got a good look at those Throwback Thursday pictures of my long, luxurious locks because it's aaaaaaalllllll coming off. After threatening for several years I'm committing to raise money for St. Baldrick's this March.
St. Baldrick's raises money toward the "Funding Gap" in children's cancer research, and toward that end I'm becoming a "Shavee" this year.
Yup, on March 5 I'm getting shaved bald and I'd very much like for you to sponsor me! Lots of folks are asking for lots of money for lots of causes, so I'll make it easy.... Make a small donation, whatever you can spare, but tell all your friends about it. Lots of people donating whatever small amount they can spare still adds up to lots of money to help kids with cancer.
(UPDATE- Feb 5, 9:29AM: Super badass ER Doc Barbie Gatton accepted my challenge and became my VERY FIRST supporter with a $100 donation! I will be singing "Hair" by the punk group Bad Brains whilst having my head shaved. Thanks Barbie!!!)
Now, to make things more interesting I have a challenge: First person to sponsor me with a single donation of $100 or more I will recite/declaim/sing a short work of your choosing while the barber does the deed. Want me to bang out a verse of "Casey Jones?" while I'm getting my head shaved? You got it. St. Crispin's Day speech? Sure (Dunno how fast these barbers work, so it may sound a little rushed).
You get the point.
It's an awesome cause, so please give if and what you can.
Thanks!
