I'm raising money for childhood cancer research!
One of the parishioners from my church, Jr High group member & SLDM School student, Lexi Brown, was diagnosed with cancer over 18 months ago & is about to undergo chemo treatment #3. Worldwide a child is diagnosed with cancer every 3 minutes. Only 4% of US Federal funding is solely dedicated to childhood cancer research. The St. Baldrick's Foundation exists to fill the funding gap. The organization does ONE thing, fund childhood cancer research!
I met Lexi last year when she was a camper at Camp Big Deal. (Which is a leadership camp for Jr. High students). Lexi may only be 12 years old, but she is the strongest, most confident, and funny young lady I have ever met. Needless to say, Lexi and I bonded at camp. That one week of camp she was just Lexi, not the girl who has cancer. She is a true fighter, and it breaks my heart that she has to endure all this at such a young age. Her smile is contagious. She brightens the room when she walks in. She's one of those kids that leaves a lasting impression on you. Lexi is a part of the youth group I co-lead. Even though, I'm technically the "teacher", Lexi taught me the true meaning of living life to the fullest.
Lexi doesn't have a choice as to whether she will loose her hair. The more chemo she takes, the more it happens.
I DO have a choice, and I'm CHOOSING to shave my head in solidity for my girl Lexi; to show her I'm in this journey with her. We all are.

Did you know that kids' cancers are different from adult cancers? It's true. And childhood cancer research is extremely underfunded. So I decided to do something about it by raising money for cures.
Now I need your help! Will you make a donation? Every dollar makes a difference for the thousands of infants, children, teens, and young adults fighting childhood cancers.
