I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research

I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research

I'm shaving my head to raise money for childhood cancer research! And childhood cancer research is extremely underfunded. So I decided to do something about it by raising money for cures. Childhood cancer research and funding is a thing that is very close to my heart and never, ever far from my mind. Of the National Cancer Institutes’ $4 billion federal budget, less than 3% goes to all twelve of the major groups of pediatric cancer COMBINED. Childhood cancer research is only given approximately 2.96% of the money raised by the American Cancer Society. The government and pharmaceutical companies are all but ignoring childhood cancer, the leading cause of death by disease in children under age 15 in the United States and that needs to stop.

Most childhood cancer treatments haven’t changed in over a decade. There have only been two pediatric cancer drugs created since the early 80s and children, even newborns, are given high percentages of ADULT strength chemotherapy treatments that destroy much more than cancer cells.

Please consider donating in honor of the following children, who have or are currently battling a form of childhood cancer:

Achilleus Budgen (3)

Lou Wilding (2)

Scout Noble (3)

Legend Henderson (2)

Ace Deming (3)

Joel Morris (3)
