I consider myself very lucky, as my immediate family and I have not been directly affected by cancer. Over the last few years, however, I've known several people who have battled this traumatic illness. It has truly opened my eyes to how life-changing this disease can be. One of my friends has a son who needed chemotherapy and a liver transplant because he was born with a tumor that filled his belly. He was only 2 when he was diagnosed. Another friend of mine has a 4 year old son who has been fighting leukemia since he was 2. Isadora, one of my closest friends, died at only 25 from a rare liver cancer. And, my grandmother died of stomach cancer at only 77 years old. I'm trying to increase awarness about cancer, and to raise funds towards finding a cure. Please consider donating to this St. Baldrick's event. The organization specifically deals in childhood cancer research, a particularly underfunded area. Over the past two years that I've participated in the event at Governor Livingston High School, we have raised over $30,000 for childhood cancer research! Please help us to raise even more!!
