I'm both growing my hair out then shaving my head to raise money for childhood cancer research! Not only am I a parent of a child cancer survivor(2 yrs off-treatment:), i've also lost my hair from a rough chemotherapy cycle last year after being diagnosed with early stage testicular cancer. Ya, our house has been a bit of a mess, but we're all ok now and on surveillance. We actually have family scan days now at daddy's work.
In terms of clinical care and research, we have much more knowledge and funding around adult cancers and although thankful for the state of some science, this is not mirrored for the pediatric conditions.
Hard to believe but kid cancers are different from adult cancers and it takes a lot more funding to figure out what working and what what is not. Childhood cancer research is extremely underfunded so I try to do something about it by raising money for potential cures and research to reduce the amount of nasty chemo we need to regulate the big C.
Now I need your help! Will you make a small donation? Every dollar makes a difference for the thousands of infants, children, teens, and young adults fighting childhood cancers.
