I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research with: New Rochelle Firefighters U.F.F.A. Local 273

The relationship between a Pediatric Oncology Nurse and her patient is something special. It is more powerful than many other nurse/patient relationships. This is because it is not just a one-time encounter, but one that can last from months to years, and have highs and lows that can challenge any relationship. I have been blessed to have taken care of children with cancer for over 27 years, and in that time, I have watched children grow into beautiful, young adults, get married, and even have children of their own. Sadly, I have also watched far to many children lose their battle with cancer. No matter what the outcome, each and every child I had the privilege of working with, has taught me so much about what is important in life. I have learned the importance of positive thinking, of appreciating the good days, of finding something to smile about even when the odds are stacked against you. And yes, I have learned that "bald" is beautiful! So now I have decided to "throw my hair into the ring" for something that is so very important to me - CHILDHOOD CANCER RESEARCH! I am shaving my head in honor of each and every child who has touched my life in ways that they could never imagine. I am shaving my head, in the hopes that the monies raised will help to make a difference in the lives of children who will have to battle this disease in the future. So please, support me, as I support this wonderful cause. Every penny helps - no donation is too small or too large!! And please, don't hesitate to forward this request to everyone you know. Together, we can make a difference for all these wonderful children.
