Have you ever considered what it might take to help save someone’s life? What if all it took was to shave your head? I invite NYSCOPBA and the New York State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision and their families to join my team to make a “bald” statement and join us for our St. Baldrick's Event on March 14th, 2015 at the Multi-Purpose Center in Saugerties. You will be joined by other members of Teams from Saugerties and Kingston Police PBA who have signed up to Brave the Shave! I'm sure that you are familiar with the alarming number of children with cancer in the Hudson Valley. Since moving to Saugerties under 5 years ago, 6 elementary age children have been diagnosed. 3 have already passed away. We will be honoring some of these local families at the event. Please support us in our pursuit to raise funds to help eradicate the number one disease killer of children in the U.S. and Canada. Here is a short clip of a signature St. Baldrick's event: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DrdqGKBfoxI St. Baldrick's is volunteer driven and gives the most grants to pediatric cancer than any other organization in the US which is severely underfunded. Consider this staggering fact: one out of every five children diagnosed with cancer will not survive – that’s one child too many. Join us in our efforts to find a cure so that no child has to suffer at the hands of this merciless disease. Going bald is not for everyone. But you can still help by making a donation on behalf of a participant (or to the event as a whole), or simply help us by spreading the word.
