I have chose to be a volunteer at this fundraising event for several reasons. First is, I have been ill since January 15, 2013. I went through more procedures and testing, where I lived in SC, than I could ever count or begin to explain. In November 2013, I moved back to my home town in Pensacola, Fl in order to be closer to my family and to be closer to access to better medical care, in hopes of finding a diagnosis for my continuing medical problems. After a few short months, I was finally given a primary diagnosis of chronic autoimmune inflammatory disease in March of 2014. I have also been under treatment for chronic migraines, asthma, fever of unknown origin, chronic pain and poly cystic ovarian syndrome.
In addition to the medical problems I face daily, I have had several family members that have been diagnosed with cancers in the past and present. Some have won their battles and some have lost their battles with cancer. Including an aunt that lost a battle with cancer when she was just a child. So this fundraiser is very near and dear to my heart. St. Baldricks is doing fundraisers all over the country in support of local children in each city in order to raise funds to help increase funding for pediatric cancer research.
I am planning on participating in this event and would be very grateful if some of you out there would make a donation to help raise funds for pediatric cancer research. The event is going to be in June at the Pensacola Blue Wahoos Stadium. I would like to raise at least $250 to show support for children like Carolyn and many others in this event.
So I am asking, will you please make a donation? Every dollar makes a difference for the thousands of infants, children, teens, and young adults fighting pediatric cancers. Thank you in advance for taking your time to read this and hopefully donate under my name on this fundraiser site!
