POST: This has been incredible, we raised over $1300 for the foundation and I kept my eyebrows. I would like to thank all of my friends and family, as well as the Ingress community that made contributions, many of which are in memory of loved ones. I hope that our efforts towards raising money for childhood cancer research creates more survivors and gives them long and healthy lives.
Update: My shave time is at 7:50pm.
Hello, (boilerplate is at the bottom if you want that, continue for my spiel)
I was talking to a friend of mine that has gone through cancer about what I should do with this new batch of hair to cut and do good with, and she suggested St. Baldricks, and here I am! I've never shaved my head before, but this is going to be great. I was looking for a new charity to maybe donate hair for a wig, but this isn't that sort of thing (more on that later).
I'm going to be joining several Midwestern faculty members in having our heads shaved while raising money to help find cures for childhood cancers (It's a pledge, but not a pledge per mile, I only need to shave my head once this year, the same as your donation per my head shaving, Make It Count!).
I'm a guy that thinks statistics are useful and that cancer is the #2 Leading cause of death in the United States is pretty significant.
In addition to being a shavee, my cut hair will be donated to Pantene's Beautiful Lengths to be turned into wigs for women with cancer.

I'm shaving my head to raise money for childhood cancer research! Did you know that kids' cancers are different from adult cancers? It's true. And childhood cancer research is extremely underfunded. So I decided to do something about it by raising money for cures.
Now I need your help! Will you make a donation? Every dollar makes a difference for the thousands of infants, children, teens, and young adults fighting childhood cancers.
