I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research with: Andover Fire

We did it! You helped me reach my goal of $5000.00 Andover Fire Department raised over $8500 and the event over $23,000. Scroll down to the photo gallery below and click on each of the photos for the caption. If you have a chance, search the St Baldrick's site for 'Catherine D'. She is my hero. Thanks again to everyone who contributed. This was a great event for a great cause. Fred My name is Fred Lance, and this March will mark my 25th anniversary as a volunteer fire fighter in Andover, NH. Fifteen years ago I began my teaching career in Information Technology at NHTI – Concord’s Community College, where I teach Cisco Academy courses. I chose Ryan Oickle as my honored child. Ryan’s dad, George, was a night student in our Cisco Academy program back when Ryan was born. Ryan was two when diagnosed with cancer and lost his battle at the age of four.
George returned to NHTI to complete his Cisco Academy courses in the fall of 2011, even though he had been diagnosed with cancer himself. George lost his battle on Christmas day 2012 leaving behind his wife and son, Colby.

Helpless is probably the last word I would use to describe fire fighters. We run into burning buildings when everyone else is running out. But in the face of cancer there is little we can do to “protect life and property”. Until now.

If losing my hair can help kids with cancer, sign me up. Please consider sponsoring me - even $5 will help. My original fundraising goal was $500. I thought that was doable. I changed my goal to $5,000. I would rather fail miserably at $600 dollars than succeed at $500. For those that can afford it, consider $25 - a dollar for each year that I have been a fire fighter. For those whose families have been blessed with health and financial means, the sky is the limit. Here is your chance to pay it forward. As I said to my fellow fire fighters, “We can do this!”

Please come back and check this page often to see how we are doing. I promise to post an “after” photo and updates along the way.
