I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research

Why am I willing to shave my head for such a cause? No, I don't have a sick child - but why only react in the face of adversity? During my worst personal catastrophes, a somber comforting thought was always "at least Catherine is healthy"....but many parents live an alternate world. And I just can't imagine anything worse than having a sick child. So I'm shaving my head not because I have a sick child but because so many other parents do and while thier energy is being spent running from doctor to doctor and just trying to keep life together...this is the least I can do to try and help. When I told Catherine (my 9 year old daughter) what I was thinking about doing and why, I asked what she would think if her mom had a shaved head and she said "I'd be so proud of you mom"...well that sealed the deal right there.
