It is coming to that time of the year again where I don my green sequin hat (this year I may go lime green sequins) and co-host to raise money for St. Baldrick’s. I will attempt to beat last year’s bidding where the crowd donated $1200 in less than 10 minutes for a young lady to shave her head on stage.
As most of you are aware, approximately 5 years ago our family received the devastating news that my sister's then 1 year old little girl was diagnosed with stage 4 Neuroblastoma, a rare cancer of the sympathetic nervous system. Fortunately..., the wonderful doctors and staff at Memorial Sloane Kettering Cancer Center took her into their loving arms and after many chemo treatments, pin pricks, tests and surgeries, have been able to keep her cancer at bay. She is not in remission, but her "stable" condition means the cancer is neither growing nor spreading. Our little warrior, Kristen is currently doing well and attending kindergarten just like kids without cancer. Other kids are not as fortunate.....As a way for our family to help those less fortunate; we've all become involved with an organization known as the St. Baldrick's Foundation. This organization raises money for pediatric cancer research. All money goes to lifesaving research to find cures and better treatment options, just for kids. I am proud to say this year again I am participating as the Treasurer and Co-host at the event on March 9, 2014 at Jackie Reilly's in Bethpage. Research takes money so please consider supporting me at the event by making a monetary donation via my webpage, or providing a raffle prize or by attending our event on March 9th to watch those brave guys and girls, get their heads shaved for pediatric cancer research! http://www.stbaldricks.org/participants/mypage/665058/2014
