I'm shaving my head to raise money for childhood cancer research! Did you know that kids' cancers are different from adult cancers? It's true. And childhood cancer research is extremely underfunded. So I decided to do something about it by raising money for cures.
Now I need your help! Will you make a donation? Every dollar makes a difference for the thousands of infants, children, teens, and young adults fighting childhood cancers.
This is my second year participating in this event! My goal is to raise money & awareness for all of those affected by childhood cancers. My daughter works as a Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Nurse at Upstate in Syracuse,NY. She has seen first hand how cancer can turn so many lives upside down. Hearing stories of some of amazing children and their families in which she has met thus far throughout her career is what truly inspired me to participate in this event. These children truly are little brave warriors. Even though there have been many medical advancements throughout the years and cure rates have increased there are still too many children who lose their battles.
This year I am shaving my head in memory and honor of Jack S. Podkaminer. He was a patient who my daughter worked closely with. I feel honored that his parents have given me permission to participate in this event in his memory. Jack fought as hard as he could until the end. Unfortunately, he lost his battle with this awful disease. But his memory and spirit will always live on. I am hoping that by participating in this event I can help to raise awareness so that one day there is a cure for this awful disease.
