I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research

I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research

Dear family, friends and community members, On Wednesday April 9th, 2014, I will be cutting 14 inches off my hair and will be it donating for wig making. I am doing this to stand in solidarity with children fighting cancer who typically lose their hair during treatment and to raise money and awareness for pediatric cancer research! Since June 2013, I have taken on the role of co-president of Smiling Over Sickness (SOS): a non-profit medical student-run organization that raises money for paediatric cancer research and to support children with cancer and their families. One of our most significant efforts to achieve our mandate is this Shave For A Cure event, where volunteers shave their heads or cut their hair to raise money and awareness for Childhood Cancer Canada, our country's leading foundation focused entirely on fighting childhood cancers. Childhood cancers are an injustice. Children have the right to live a painless and worry-free life. They should not be bed ridden and undergoing long and painful treatment. They deserve to spend every waking moment smiling, laughing and playing. By fundraising for Childhood Cancer Canada, I want to help ensure that the best treatments are developed to cure children with cancer and to give them the quality of life they deserve. I hope you will join me in this fight by supporting me and making a donation. All my best, Rayan :)
