People keep asking me why I am doing this St. Baldrick's fundraiser and the answer isn't simple. To shine a bit of light, one of my reasons is that although I've only known a couple of children with cancer, I've known many more adults with cancer whose loss of hair during treatment was devastating, especially to my friends with gorgeous long hair. I can't begin to imagine how a child, who can't understand fully what is happening to their body must feel. Any reason I could come up with to not do this was selfish and vain and the more I thought about it, the more I realized this felt right. This is one way I can stand bravely beside my family and friends, here and passed, who have battled cancer and support them in this very small way.
If you can, please support me with a donation to the St. Baldrick's Foundation. This volunteer-driven charity funds more in childhood cancer research grants than any organization except the U. S. government. Your gift will give hope to infants, children, teens and young adults fighting childhood cancers. So when I ask for your support, I'm really asking you to support these kids.
