I've answered the call to be a hero! I'm having my head shaved to stand in solidarity with kids fighting cancer, but more importantly, to raise money to find cures.
Please support me with a donation to the St. Baldrick's Foundation. This volunteer-driven charity funds more in childhood cancer research grants than any organization except the U.S. government.
Your gift will give hope to infants, children, teens and young adults fighting childhood cancers. So when I ask for your support, I'm really asking you to support these kids. Thank you!

After losing our dear friend, Shaymus Guinn, to childhood cancer in December, I realized how fragile life is. And, my heart broke with Karla's, and so many in our community as her beautiful son left us behind. Through the tears, the sadness, the horrible grief and tragedy of watching a child spend a third of his life struggling simply to survive, my priorities shifted.
Every day I think of Shay and Karla and wonder how this life would be different if he was still here. How would that child have changed the world? Because, through his struggle, with his incredible bravery and tenacity, he clearly altered our lives. Many people have reflected on Shay's courage in their daily decisions. One of our Shay inspired friends is training for a marathon.
And, what would I do if my niece was diagnosed with cancer next year? What if I could donate some time, money, hair, to change the outcome of that horror? It's here now, with me every day. And today I'm doing something to at least feel like I'm helping the thousands of families affected daily by childhood cancer.
Will you please support me in this effort?
Our St. Baldrick's event is Saturday, June 8th from 3-11 pm, with all sorts of fun, games, music, food, and dancing. This is a celebration of life and a way to help conquer children's cancer through head shaving. Yes, I'm shaving my head. It's hair. It will grow back. And if one dollar of this event brings peace to one family, this will be the greatest thing I've accomplished in my life.
If you're in or near beautiful downtown Franksville on Saturday, June 8th, please stop by Cabbageheads (3311 Hwy H). We'll have steel drums playing, Tan Tana's 20 foot tall cousin, Miss Trini, dancing around, a country/bluegrass/oldies jam and the 80's super group, Weird Science. Our local hero, three year old Amalia, will enjoy dancing with you if she's feeling strong after her chemo treatments.
In support of Amalia and her family, we're having silent auctions and raffles, you can win, and so will she!
Thank you, my friends, for your continued support.
