I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research

I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research

I am a childhood cancer survivor. Diagnosed in January 2004 (5 years ago at this time) I was successfully treated over the course of 5 months. Spent my 17th birthday in the hospital receiving treatment but still had a party in my treatment room (everyone there stopped by to see what was going on and for a slice of pizza). During the past 5 years I heard someone along the way of St. Baldrick's and decided myself to one day participate. So now, 5 years in the making, I've decided this is it! Back in late October and early November I started growing out my hair (carefully calculating how long I'd let my hair grow before it got to be really annoying and I'm right on target) all in preparation for this event I'm using to celebrate the soon ending period of remission (I hope). Good luck and best wishes to all going through treatment! Put whatever enjoyment you can into your times in the hospital and you'll do just fine! Oh and a few more random facts for consideration. I'm Irish all the way (born in the USA but I take the Irish side as tops) I'm celebrating my past 5 years shaving my head under an bald Irish leprechaun! My birthday is the day before St. Patrick's Day! It's the month of the Irish and, I'm shaving at Helen Fitzgerald's Irish pub and grill! Doesn't get much better than this!
