I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research

Just about everyone knows somebody who has had or currently has cancer. For me, those people are my Grandpa and my Dad. I never got to meet my Grandpa, as he lost his battle to lung cancer in 1992. It is my father, Ron Slager, who I see battling cancer everyday. He was diagnosed with lyposarcoma earlier in 2012, his 3rd diagnosis. The most amazing part of it all is his spirit and his faith. He has remained close to his family and to God throughout it all. I don't know how he manages to do it but I do know that I am incredibly proud of him and I hope to one day possess a spirit like his. It's this spirit that is the reason I'm choosing to become a shavee; for all the kids out there who have been diagnosed and still keep fighting for their family, their friends, for whatever reason they have. Stay strong, one day we'll all beat this together.
