Losing someone from a disease is made harder knowing that soon better treatment, and eventually a cure, will be found. December 30th, 2012, we lost Tara to cancer, she was 18 years old. Its hard to describe Tara to someone who didn't know her. Her beauty and strength, personality, and wittiness were just so magnetic. She was entirely captivating. She was a great friend of mine and impossible not to love.
She is also the one who told me about St. Baldrick's. One day we were sitting in her room, going through pictures. There was one of her smiling and laughing as her dad was getting his head shaved. There were a couple photos of bald nurses. She explained the foundation, and how much it meant to her. I could tell it made her hopeful and she was glad to be a part of it. I knew then that I had no choice but to participate. Besides what it would mean to her, there is the critical fact that by participating, we are funding lifesaving research to help others in situations like hers.
I'm shaving my head so you will donate money.
By donating, you can accelerate and improve research, thus saving lives of young people like Tara. Your gift will give hope to infants, children, teens and young adults fighting childhood cancers. I'm asking you to support these kids and their families. Thank you!
