Hi! :)

This is my second year participating in The University of Texas's Brave for a Shave benefitting the St. Baldrick's Foundation. When I started my freshman year of college I wanted to find an organization that would let me really make a difference. I joined S.M.I.L.E. (which at the time was a small group of friendly students just trying to help others) and discovered something amazing. I had assumed that volunteering in the oncology ward of a children's hospital would be depressing but it was the complete opposite. I had never been surrounded by such joy and life.

When we started Brave the Shave (formally Shave for a Cure) last year we could have never even guessed it could be as big as it is now. The students of UT and other members of the community showed how much they cared for those children and for all the children affected by cancer. The wave of support was overwhelming. This year we hope to be even bigger and better. This event is for the children. Every dollar raised goes towards helping them and they deserve it more than anyone.

So please support me and the other participants of Brave the Shave. Donate to our cause or come and support the brave people who are shaving their heads in support of those courageous children.

Thank you so much!

Lots of Love!

Katie
