You heard it right - I'm shaving my head in solidarity with children who have cancer and typically lose their hair during treatment, while raising critical funds for childhood cancer research!
I am honoring Kelly Ramljak. At the age of 12, Kelly was diagnosed with acute lymphocytic leukemia (ALL). For nearly the next 3 years, she fought her illness, enduring spinal taps, hair loss, chemotherapy and bone marrow biopsies. I am happy to say she won her fight and has been cancer free ever since. Her story does not end there. In 2008, Kelly graduated from Elmhurst College with a degree in Nursing. Today, Kelly works as a pediatric oncology nurse at Childrens Memorial Hospital... the very same hospital in which she received her life saving treatments. Kelly is not only a survivor but a hero to me, working with children facing the same challenges she overcame.
Please make a donation on my behalf to support childhood cancer research so that all children diagnosed with cancer will have a better chance for a cure.
