I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research

On Friday March 2nd, the Naperville, Illinois Police and Fire Departments will be hosting the 3rd annual St. Baldricks Day Event I will be participating in. Many of you may not have heard of St. Baldricks Day. St. Baldricks Day is an event in which those who participate get their heads shaved for charity as way of raising money for children living with cancer. Last year's event raised $130,000. The goal for this year is to reach $175,000 to coincide with the City of Naperville's 175th Anniversary. Many of you are probably asking "What the heck is wrong with you Derek? Why do you want to get your head shaved? You're going to look like Uncle Fester or a Skinhead? You don't want to be bald, do you?" The answer is very simple.....Neither do many kids who are dependent upon chemotherapy to survive. Unlike many of these children face an uncertain future, we are lucky enough to know that our hair will grow back. So......If a little off the top of my head will help save the life of a child, shaving my head is a small price to pay! With all this said and done, I am asking for help from my friends on as sponsors. I have set a goal of raising $500.00 as a minimum. Small donations, even $1.00 are acceptable, and can be done on-line through the St. Baldricks website, so it's all valid folks. And, yes I will post an after photo, and I will accept all the jokes about me looking like Uncle Fester. If you are interested in being a sponsor or attending the event, please send me a message with your e-mail, and I will give you the information as to how to help out. If anyone else would like to participate at this event in Naperville and dare to get their head shaved, feel free to send me a message. More information can be obtained at: www.stbaldricks.org Thanks, Derek
