When I was approached about shaving my head, the first thought the crossed my mind was "I'm already losing my hair, it's probably not going to grow back!" But when I really thought about it, its just hair. It doesn't matter, but finding a cure to cancer is a huge matter to me in my life. My father passed away from colon cancer when I was 20 months old and my older brother, Ben, is a 20 year survivor of leukemia. If me shaving my head bald can help another person have their older brother survive cancer and be a major influence in their life, then why not?
I am shaving my head in honor of my brother, Ben, and also for a little boy that I met only a few days ago, Mack, who is suffering from both acute lymphocytic leukemia & acute myelocytic leukemia. The smile on Mack's face when he threw out the first pitch in our game against South Carolina sent chills up my body. I thought to myself, if this little boy that is going through so much in his life because of this disease can come out here and throw a baseball, why cant I just shave my head bald and help raise money to save amazing young kids like him?
Please help out and donate!
I've answered the call to be a hero! I'm having my head shaved to stand in solidarity with kids fighting cancer, but more importantly, to raise money to find cures.
Please support me with a donation to the St. Baldrick's Foundation. This volunteer-driven charity funds more in childhood cancer research grants than any organization except the U.S. government.
Your gift will give hope to infants, children, teens and young adults fighting childhood cancers. So when I ask for your support, I'm really asking you to support these kids. Thank you!
