I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research with: Now THIS is March Madness

My participation as a shavee for St. Baldricks is to lend support to my friend, childhood cancer survivor, and researcher Dr. Greg Aune of the UT Health Science Center. In the few years that I have known Greg, I have come to an understanding of how his diagnosis, treatment, and recovery has impacted his life as a child and as an adult. Following his recovery, Greg embarked on a mission to not only treat pediatric cancer patients, but to also research treatments that provide the needed cancer relief without the potential long term cardio-vascular risks. Dr. Aune has taken the turmoil caused by a childhood cancer diagnosis and used it as his motivation to research and provide effective and safe treatments for hundreds of others. I am shaving my head in acknowledgment of his efforts, to raise awareness of the long term health implications of cancer treatment, and to provide support to all the families who are struggling with a diagnosis. I’ve set a meager goal of $300.00 for donations for this event and would love to exceed this amount. If you feel led to support me, and this foundation that recently provided Dr. Aune with a $50,000 research infrastructure grant please donate. Michael Nicolaou
