I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research with: Joyce's for Luke

Dear Friends I drafted my first e-mail for this years St. Baldrick’s event last Thursday the 9th. Friday night I learned that Luke, the boy whom Brian and I are honoring, passed away after a valiant 4 ½ year battle with cancer. I didn’t change my note about the fundraiser because I didn’t want to believe it. Today I joined my mother at his funeral mass where hundreds came to mourn his loss, celebrate his life and most importantly show love and support to his parents and his twin brother James. What touched me most was the priest’s recount of last Friday, Luke’s last day in his body, Luke’s “Good Friday” as he called it. He awoke that morning surround by his family he wished them all a good morning. His mom promised him no more needles, his dad told him to go play, and his brother simply reminded him “I love you” Luke is now free to play, surrounded by love in a place with no needles – we should all be so blessed some day.
