Hi! My name is Maiya W. I am 10 years old, and I am a 4th grade student at Hawthorn Elementary School. I love running and playing basketball, but my favorite activity has to be hanging out on the Mississippi River with my cousin Mackenzie. Mackenzie is only 11 years old yet she is already a 3-time cancer survivor. She is an amazing and funny girl who has never let cancer slow her down. We love boating on the Mississippi with my parents and her grandparents, and we spend as much time together as we can.
I decided that I really wanted to do something to help Mackenzie and other childhood cancer patients and survivors like her. So I am going to shave my head at Helen Fitzgerald’s Pub and Grill in Sunset Hills on March 10, 2012. By doing this, I will help to raise money to cure childhood cancer through an event called St Baldrick’s Day. I am asking that you support me in this worthy cause by making a tax deductible donation in my name to the St Baldrick’s Foundation.

Kids with cancer are our reason for it all. They’re the inspiration behind our event and the reason we’re helping fund childhood cancer research. We believe all kids should be able to grow up and turn their dreams into realities. Join our event or make a donation, and click the photos below to read their incredible stories.
