I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research with: ALPHA PHI OMEGA & Co.

^Check out my video above^ Hello there! For those of you who don't know me, me name is Maria Jolly and I'm a sophomore at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. I'm majoring in Earth, Society, and Environment and minoring in Molecular Cellular Biology, with the hopes of becoming a doctor. I have always been a positive person and will get excited about nothing, about life, really. Well, now I am trying to help fight for the lives of children diagnosed with Pediatric Cancer. On April 22nd, 2012 I will shave all of the hair off of my head to stand in solidarity with children who are fighting cancer, but more importantly, to raise money to find research for cures. Did you know that 1 in 5 of children diagnosed with childhood cancer in the United States will die from the disease? The St. Baldrick’s Foundation currently funds more childhood cancer research grants than any organization except the US government. I am willing to literally sacrifice all the hair off my head to help fight the battle against childhood cancer with the hope that you are willing to support me with a donation to the St. Baldrick's Foundation. Really, what I am asking is that you donate to help find a cure for cancer and give hope to the children and their families who are currently fighting for their lives. Any donation is IMMENSELY appreciated and you can donate just by Clicking "Make a donation" to give online, or donate by phone or mail. Thank you soo much for your support & thank you for helping end childhood cancer. PS. I know a lot of you are concerned with how I will look with a bald head. I just want to remind you that in the grand scheme of things, my looks really don't matter at all. My hair will come back, but the children who have lost their lives battling cancer will not. By raising money toward cancer research I hope to help find cures and by shaving my head I hope to send a message to everyone I meet that pediatric cancer is a battle that we must never forget about. I'm doing it for the kids, so please do not worry about my hair. Personally, I'm excited to see how I'll look bald! =)
