"I've answered the call to be a hero! I'm having my head shaved to stand in solidarity with kids fighting cancer, but more importantly, to raise money to find cures. Please support me with a donation to the St. Baldrick's Foundation. This volunteer-driven charity funds more in childhood cancer research grants than any organization except the U. S. government. Your gift will give hope to infants, children, teens and young adults fighting childhood cancers. So when I ask for your support, I'm really asking you to support these kids. Thank you! That paragraph is the mumbo jumbo you get set as a description just with signing up, and while it is correct and makes sense, it doesn't talk about why I'm doing this. As I went through my earlier years of school, I had a teacher whom I could always go to and was always there for me, but last year, I learned that he really needed someone there for him. Dan Healy's daughter Kahlin Healy was diagnosed with Leukemia at the young at of 4 and has been battling it for 6 years now and last year she came out of remission and needed to go through chemo and all of the other treatments all over again. Myself and a group of other classmates raised over 800 dollars for Dan and his family and ever since I have done all I can to help out those who need it and Kahlin is my shining star and inspiration. Baldrick's offers me the chance to raise money to help find cures for cancer in patients like Kahlin and that's the reason I am shaving my head on March 16th.
