I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research with: Conner's Crusaders

HEY GUYS!!!!!! For those of you who remember, I participated in St. Baldrick's in as a high school sophomore and here I am again, four years later and four years wiser, as a sophomore at Indiana University and ready to go again!! I won't be shaving my head clean but I will be participating in the event by donating 8-10 inches of my hair to Locks of Love. This organization uses human hair to make wigs for girls suffering from cancer. St. Baldrick's holds a bittersweet place in my heart. Bitter because of the unthinkable number of children who are engaging in the most difficult battle of their life, the one for their own. Sweet because I participate in honor of my 9 year old cousin, Conner, who was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia when he was just 3 years old and fought the battle to its very end, kicking cancer out of his life! The treatments, medical procedures, tears, pain, and fear that Conner endured during his treatment will not be the focus of my commitment to St. Baldrick's this year. His present health and happiness, victory and triumph over this disease and witty, inspiring personality is what I am here to celebrate. My hair and monetary donations are whole-heartedly dedicated to the success of Conner's treatments. I will never forget the years of torment our family endured to make sure our little Conner would not lose his fight. We didn't give up, the doctors didn't give up, and Conner's powerful body surely would not take no for an answer. Conner's story is a successful and promising one, but we must always remember the countless ones that aren't as joyful. The families who are currently struggling with this fight deserve all the encouragement and love I could offer. To Conner and his family, I sing and praise and shout from the rooftops how grateful I am to still have my little cousin Conner in my life. An event as big as St. Baldrick's could never throw a celebration big enough to express my happiness. HELP ME REACH MY DONATION GOAL OF $1,500!! Let's remember those who are fighting this battle and most of all, celebrate one awesome kid, Conner!!!!
