I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research

Thank you for supporting my new hair style. I would like to share why I have decided to shave my head. 2 years ago I got a great opportunity thanks to Kid's Hope USA, my church, and Bauer Elementary School to mentor a young boy named Ryan. I heard about Ryan's story, and his battle with brain cancer. I recall that first day and seeing that bald head coming towards me down the hallway with his mom at Bauer Elementary School. I must say I have been so blessed to watch this young boy heal right before my eyes. The love this family shares is beyond words. Here are a few little stories that inspired me going bald. Our first day we met I took Ryan into our Kid's Hope room. We grab a snack and drink from the drawer with a few games to play throughout our one hour session. I recall Ryan opening up that snack drawer with this huge smile and saying this is my brothers favorite snack so I'll have this one. About 10 minutes into our first session during our snack time, and getting to know each other I noticed Ryan hadn't touched his snack. I asked if he was going to eat his snack because we were going to start a few other things. Ryan looked up at me and said he was saving it for his brother Andrew. Yes my heart melted and I knew this kindergartener was special. This is the type of love this family shares. I also recall the class party Ryan had to announce his remission and victory over his brain cancer. What a special day that was. I recall watching this young boy playing summer baseball. I was sitting next to his mother watching his dad coach with both Ryan and Andrew playing. Ryan got a nice hit and he made it to first base. Now you must understand this young boy still had a nice limp at this time because of his health. Mindy looked at me and said with this gentle voice " it's amazing that Ryan was in a wheelchair 9 months ago fighting his brain cancer and now he is running bases." Must I say even a grown man can shed tears in public. My life has been changed watching Ryan heal and being touch by his story. I have a faithful prayer partner named Dan Peterman who has been praying for Ryan, his family, and myself since I have been mentoring. The power of prayer has been felt in many ways during this journey so thanks Dan for your continued support. This family wants to give back so they are organizing this event. Your donations will go to fight childhood cancer. I have the honor to take part and Thank You show much for showing your support. God Bless !!!
