I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research with: NetApp Global Team

So together with a number of people from NetApp we are raising money in support of Cancer research for Children via the NetApp UK St Baldrick’s website. The original idea arose from a parent whose daughter had leukaemia who in sympathy for his daughter’s loss of hair shaved his own to make her feel better. The funds raised go to CLIC Sargent http://www.clicsargent.org.uk/Home and are used for care during treatment, in hospital, at home and post treatment, as well as research for childhood cancers. Children fighting cancer lose not only their hair but precious years from their childhood, and sometimes their lives. I have helped a couple of friends through their cancer treatments – and even for adults who can understand what’s happening – it’s a terrifying experience….. I have a 6 year old daughter who is fortunate to be in good health, and cannot imagine her with this illness. As many of you know I tend to have reasonably short hair – but to show spirit I have now grown it to the point where :- 1. I have to use a brush (brush last saw daylight in about 1997…..) 2. The wind actually affects my hair 3. My mother likes my current hair style 4. My German and French colleagues asked me yesterday – ‘Nice hair, is there a Woodstock revival?’ 5. One of them (Big Ron) was even cheeky enough to say ‘another week you could start a pony tail’…. I know you are being asked to donate to many charities but, if you can make a donation, no matter how small, that would be great and if you cannot, your support and good wishes are also greatly appreciated. Even $10 makes a difference….. >
