I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research with:
Shave to Save
As I approach retirement from a carreer that has provided me with much more than I have contributed I've decided to try and give back just a little. By raising funds to fight this awful disease that robs so many children of their childhood and for far too many their life. I have had the privilege of participating in the lives of these special children and their families. Many have become lifetime friends.
From the first time I gravitated toward pediatric oncology I have felt that this is where I was meant to be and never looked back.
It has been a love/hate relationshiip. Loving every minute spent with these kids and their remarkable families facing the unbelievable challange of childhood cancer. Watching in wonder as families adapt to a complete new life of appointments, treatments, side effects and unexpected trips to the hospital while trying to balance work, home and normal routines. You are all AMAZING! And then things don't go as we wish and hating watching helplessly as the disease progresses and claims the lives of these remarkable children. Hating feeling so inadequate to relieve the anguish and despair of a parent losing their precious child.
This has been my passion, my career and I do not regret one single minute. It has shaped who I am and given me an understanding of what is truly important in this world. Please help me by contributing to finding a cure and saving future children from suffering as so many children do fighting this disease!
