I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research with: Joey's Team - Bald is Beautiful

Hello Friends & Family- I am shaving my head again for St. Baldrick’s this year and am hoping you will consider sponsoring me again as I raise money for childhood cancer research. To be honest, I wasn’t going to shave again this year, primarily because I don’t really like begging all of you for money. But again this past year cancer has struck close to home – and this time it’s been childhood cancer – so I couldn’t say no when asked to participate again. My sister-in-law’s 8 year old cousin Eli came home a few months ago with a headache. Within a week he was at Riley Hospital here in Indy for brain surgery to remove the tumor (it had also spread to his spine). This was followed by weeks of chemo and radiation and Eli is fighting for his life as I type. Eight years old, that’s how old my daughter Grace is. Then I got a phone call around year end from a client whose 6 year old son was diagnosed with Leukemia, and per the voice message ‘not the good kind.’ And as I type, Michael is fighting for his life. My daughter Maggie is six years old. And as most of you know, I’ve got a 16 month old daughter, Sally. Luckily I don’t currently personally know anyone under age 2 fighting cancer. And I’m also feeling rather fortunate to have good health in the Timpe family. And I’m also feeling like I can suck it up and ask you for some funds to support this very worthwhile cause – actually I consider it the least I can do. These kids and their parents are in a fight for their lives, and the only way I see we’re ever going to beat cancer is by funding research that will one day unlock the cure. I’ve also recruited my brother Gary to participate this year to specifically honor Eli. We’ve got a friendly little competition going between us to raise as much as possible for cancer research in 2011. (And I know at least a couple of you would like to stick it to Gary – what better way than supporting me with a donation so I can kick his rear at this?) Will you join me in supporting this important cause with a donation?
