Hey everyone. My name is Caleb and i am a student at Emmaus High school. Those of you who go to my school might recognize me as that weird kid who sometimes dresses up like a cow and plays his guitar in the open range of the school's halls.
I'm here to tell you that I will be shaving my head at the Emmaus High School's St. Baldricks Shave for the brave. My amazing English teacher Mrs. Patrunak is the one who really convinced me to do this. She told me all about the event and her story and why she is doing this and it inspired me to give back to these wonderful children that need help. When i told her that i had signed up to get my head shaved she yelled "Yay" in excitement and that made me really happy that i can make other people happy and their lives a little easier just by shaving off my hair.
My family has been affected by cancer before. I lost my Granpa Phil to bone and liver cancer. It was a very hard time knowing that he only had a few weeks to live and it all seemed to happen from out of the blue. My family and I went out to West Virginia to visit him one last time. It was very heart wrenching to walk into my Grandparents house to find my Granpa Phil laying there in a hospital bed in the middle of the room. It wasnt the fact that he was just in the bed but he looked like a completely different person, it was traumatizing to see him like that. We all held a positive attitude during the whole visit and prayed over him to get better. It was only a week before when he was able to sit at the dinner table and eat with my Aunt Becky and Uncle Steve, at the time we were there he had gotten weaker so we sat and ate dinner without him at the head of the table to say the prayer before the meal. It is still hard for me to get over the sound of his oxygen tanks in the other room over the silence at the dinner table. Grandpa Phil die about a week later and we all attended the funeral and that's when it started to hit me that he was gone. My Grandmother had gone through so much taking care of him and just making sure he was happy, she is a very strong woman and I love her very much.
No child should have to go through this. I want to try and give back everything i can to help out people in need and i thank my parents for giving me this big heart to share. They have raised me with such love and care and tought me that it is important to share love with others and that I'm capable of doing anything. Family is the number one thing in my life and any of my friends or people that need my help I consider my Family and its my duty to take care of them. I you could donate some money for me and this event i would greatly appreciate it. Anything helps even if its a dollar or some pocket change. Be sure to come to event on March 18th at Emmaus High School.
I would like to thank Mrs Patrunak again for making this all happen (Look up her profile, She is one really cool teacher)
