I'm shaving my head in solidarity with children who have cancer and typically lose their hair during treatment, while raising critical funds for childhood cancer research. If you can't donate, but want to show your support anyway, come on by and watch me get my head shaved at Trinity Hall Irish Pub on March 27. My hair is being donated to Wigs for Kids, and then a barber will be buzzing it down to as short as possible. For those of you who want to know if you can donate for me to NOT shave my head... I can't chicken out now ;-) (Next time I do this, I'll try to see if I can have 2 competing donation pools, one for "Shave Amy's Head!" and the other for "NOOOOOO!!!") Everybody who is participating is shaving all their hair off. I've always wanted to shave my head, and this is a great reason to do it! I'm also doing this in memory of all the beloved Scarborough Renaissance Festival cast members and patrons who passed away too soon this year, Chris, Bertolt, Mikael, and especially Don and Jessilyn Franklin. I'm pretty sure Mikael was the only one who actually died of cancer, but that doesn't matter here. When Jessilyn passed in January, Don suggested that I make a donation to a cancer charity, so that's exactly what I'm doing for both of them.
