I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research with: Joey's Team - Bald is Beautiful

You heard it right - I'm shaving my head. Why am I telling you? Although I can often be at the center of attention, this time, it's not about me. The reason is for a greater purpose. I am shaving my head in solidarity with children who have cancer and typically lose their hair during treatment, and in order to raise critical funds for childhood cancer research! As many of you know, I have been a Social Worker at the Riley Children's Cancer Center for over 20 years. I have had the privilege of working with many courageous families, whose lives and journeys have touched my life in many ways. Childhood cancer shows no bias to race, culture or socio-economic background. These families' struggles and resilience have convinced me that "family", regardless of how it is defined, is stronger than cancer. Despite the many advances in treatment of children with cancer, in the US, more children die of childhood cancer than any other disease. Research is our only answer! I have the opportunity to work with very smart, dedicated, and compassionate doctors whose research this program directly supports. I know you are asked to support a lot of causes but I'm asking you to donate to one more. Please consider this cause that is so near and dear to my heart. Just go to www.StBaldricks.org. click on "find a participant" and type in my name. To make a donation, click on "Make A Donation" or donate by mail or phone. Thank you for your support!
