I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research

I am often asked by many people these same questions. Why are you still involved with Lou Athanas Basketball, why did you serve on the Laconia School Board and why do you serve on Project Extra!, why are you coaching AAU basketball, why did you devote your summers to running Summer basketball. The answer is always the same. It's for the kids. For the last two years I have been lucky enough to assist in the background at the Saint Baldrick's event in Gilford. This event is run by some very dedicated and hard working people that always answers their questions the same as I do. "It's for the kids". So, for this reason, I have decided that if it's really about the kids, why don't I shave my head to raise money to help kids with this terrible disease. There is another reason why I want to do it this year. February 2006 my niece Ali was diagnosed with Ovarian Cancer. She endured surgery and the dreaded chemotherapy. She pulled through like a trooper. Always had a smile. While she was going through chemo and losing her hair, many of her friends shaved their heads in solidarity for her. I can say she had an uncle with less guts than she had, and couldn't commit to shaving his head. Now, Ali is a very active Junior co-ed at UNH. I can now say, her uncle finally has the courage to shave his head. To make it even more personal, Ali's mother was diagnosed with breast cancer in November 2008 and is now having chemo therapy after her surgery. I can also support her as well. So, I am asking all of my family, friends, co-workers, fellow board members (past and current) to please help me help the kids. By donating to Saint Baldrick's in my name, maybe we can make a dent with this terrible disease. I said I had guts, but, it would make it a lot easier to shave the little hair I have left, if I could meet my goal of $3,000.00. This is a one shot deal. If you want to see a living snowman with a moustache, now is your chance.
