Our daughter Kylee was diagnosed with a brain tumor on February 14th, 2007 at the age of six. Since that day, her life has changed so much but she has taken it all with a smile and has never given up. Kylee has a twin brother and older sister that have been incredibly supportive through her fight. She loves her bunny, Mr. Pickles, and enjoys reading her favorite book to her older sister. She is in the top 95% of her class even with her disabilities and is very proud of her accomplishments in the classroom. She has a very giving nature. Our family recently returned from her Make-A-Wish trip and Kylee wouldn't leave until she had a souvenir for each of her 30 closest friends. We are very proud of her for this.
Our journey began when my wife first noticed her eyes were crossing. The first doctor to examine her said that she needed bifocal glasses. My wife being the super mom that she is said that she wanted a second opinion. The second doctor said that her eyes were fine and she might have a lazy eye but just to make sure nothing else is wrong he ordered an MRI scan. Valentine's Day we got the news over the phone "brain tumor."
Currently federal funding for childhood cancer research is declining, so I've decided to join forces with volunteers across the world and shave my head to raise money to find a cure. Researchers believe a cure is possible within our lifetime-- provided the funds are available to find it.
Please consider donating on behalf of all the children and families that have been touched by childhood cancer.
Sincerely,
A Husband, Father, Northern Nevada community member, an IGT employee and a new crusader in the fight against childhood cancer.
