I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research

I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research

It's been two years since I lost Fred, my husband of 50 years, to lung cancer. For a year, my sons, Dave and Paul, and I watched him suffer the indignities of that insidious disease. Just imagining a child enduring what Fred did is almost more than one can bear. Fred's illness brought back memories of Jimmie Reher, a boy I babysat when I was still a kid myself. At 14 years of age he died of a malignant brain tumor. What a small thing it is to give one's hair for research into a cure for this horrible, terrible disease. So, to Fred and Jimmie, "This hair's for you!"

St. Baldrick’s Honored Kids

Kids with cancer are our reason for it all. They’re the inspiration behind our event and the reason we’re helping fund childhood cancer research. We believe all kids should be able to grow up and turn their dreams into realities. Join our event or make a donation, and click the photos below to read their incredible stories.
