I am helping to raise money for childhood cancer research

Hello friends and family!

I’ve volunteered with many different organizations throughout my life. I’m passionate about giving back to organizations that supported my family and I through my cancer journey, as well as organizations that work towards curing pediatric cancer.

One organization I’ve worked with over the past 5 years is St. Baldrick’s. St. Baldrick’s is the #1 charity funder of childhood cancer research grants! The St. Baldrick’s Foundation runs nationwide fundraising events where people shave their heads in solidarity with children battling pediatric cancer. Fundraising teams are typically made up of families that were personally impacted by pediatric cancer. I originally learned about St. Baldrick's while being treated at Children's Hospital Oakland's outpatient oncology clinic. I volunteered at their yearly events because of my oncologist Dr Caroline Hastings.

St. Baldrick’s events are always incredibly memorable. It is inspiring to watch people shave their heads to support children in treatment and commemorate those that have lost their battle with cancer. I will never forget speaking to a mom at one of these events where she shared memories of her son, whom she lost to cancer. She asked me about my experience as a survivor. I still think of her today and wish I had met her son. I hope her story, my story, and many more like them inspire you to donate to such an important organization.
