I am trimming to raise money for childhood cancer research with: The Forest Roaders

Due to a confluence of circumstances, my hair is the longest it's been in years, if not ever. I found out that my son's elementary school participates in an annual shave night to benefit St. Baldrick's and thought to myself, great timing! I have enough of a ponytail to donate this year and support a cause near and dear to me.

I lost my husband John to brain cancer in 2018. In the 6.5 years he lived with cancer, I saw him lose many physical abilities as the cancer progressed, but I never saw him lose his optimism. He was a young(ish) father of 2 and prior to his diagnosis, a healthy endurance athlete. His death to a 98% lethal form of cancer was devastating to me and the boys.

As a mother, I can't imagine the horror of having a child receive a cancer diagnosis. There is a clear lack of resources being directed towards pediatric cancer. It is a travesty that our society values dollars above lives. I am supporting St. Baldrick's mission to move valuable research forward.
