Why am I shaving my head, and why should you care?
Anyone who knows me knows I am somewhat vain. I like my hair and try to keep myself well attired! I was watching the Super Bowl a couple of weeks ago and got distracted when I saw a Facebook post for Saint Baldrick's. The thing that struck me was that here I was, about to turn 56 on March 2nd, eating bad food and complaining about stupid, irrelevant things, and these kids will never get that chance!
I am secretly terrified of getting my head shaved. It is not something I have done before, but if it helps one child, we have all made a difference.
The background to the movement is a challenge among friends. 25 years ago, it became the largest volunteer movement to Conquer Kids’ Cancer. This year, I’m joining thousands of others to shave my head to raise money for childhood cancer research!
Did you know, 1 in 5 kids diagnosed with cancer in Western countries, including the US and the UK (this charity helps kids worldwide), won’t survive? For those who do, more than 96% have severe or life-threatening conditions by the time they are 50.
Each shaved head and every dollar donated creates a ripple effect of progress for kids with cancer.
Your gift will give kids and their families hope by supporting the best research across the country through the St. Baldrick's Foundation, the largest charity funder of childhood cancer research grants.
Together, let’s give these kids the lifetime they deserve. Thank you for your support!
