“Early on in my participation I met a young girl at an event in treatment for pediatric cancer. I was asked to take a before and after photo with her. The young girl wanted nothing to do with it and fought even standing next to me for the “before” photo. However, when she saw me later that evening with my head shaved, she sat on my lap without fuss for the “after” photo. We had somehow made a connection. I stayed in touch with the mother and learned that a year later she was in remission and sporting a full head of hair. That was all I needed to understand the true impact that St. Baldrick's and volunteer shavees like myself were having on children with cancer. This is why am I shaving my head.
A challenge among friends 25 years ago has become the largest volunteer movement to Conquer Kids’ Cancer. I have participated for 23 years and join thousands of others to shave our heads to raise money for childhood cancer research!
Did you know, 1 in 5 kids diagnosed with cancer in the U.S. won’t survive? For those who do, more than 96% have severe or life-threatening conditions by the time they are 50.
Each shaved head, every dollar donated, creates a ripple effect of progress for kids with cancer.
Your gift will give kids and their families hope, supporting the best research across the country, through the largest charity funder of childhood cancer research grants, the St. Baldrick’s Foundation.
Together, let’s give these kids the lifetime they deserve. Thank you for your support!
