26 years ago I agreed to shave my head in exchange for donations which would go to childhood cancer research. I had good reason to... My best friends 2 year old son (Markie T) was in the fight of his life... For his life. It seemed like such a simple gesture, but little did I know how my life would change for the better. During the event, I met families of children going through the same fight as Markie T... I heard their stories, felt their pain and enjoyed their celebrations. It changed who I am, it opened my eyes and it was a call to action. I'm a lucky man... I have two beautiful, healthy children (now young adults). Why am I so lucky?
I knew I had to do something, but what? I'm not a doctor... I can't find the cure for cancer. Cancer is not a person... I can't beat it up... What can I do?!?!?!
I can raise money and awareness for this incredible charity that finds treatments, that funds research by the worlds top oncologists. I CAN help find a cure and I CAN help BEAT UP cancer... We can and will win this fight.
Markie lost his battle, but this war is ongoing and we WILL win this war.
Forever in my heart... #MarkieT
