Why am I shaving my head, and why should you care?
This year marks my 20th year shaving my head for St. Baldrick’s. What started years ago as a simple act of support has become a lifelong commitment to kids and families facing childhood cancer.
As an educator, I don’t just hear about childhood cancer—I see its impact firsthand. I see the strength of students, the fear and exhaustion of families, and the heartbreaking reality that no child should ever have to face. Supporting children with cancer isn’t abstract for me; it’s personal, and it’s urgent.
That’s why I shave my head. It’s a visible reminder that these kids don’t fight alone—and that we can do more.
I’m proud to be part of Team TACKLE, a group united by one shared hope: that one day, a cure for childhood cancer will exist. Every shaved head and every dollar raised helps fund lifesaving research and brings us closer to that goal.
Childhood cancer steals time, childhoods, and futures—but together, we can help change that. Thank you for supporting this fight, for standing with these families, and for helping us work toward a world where kids can grow up cancer-free.r support!
