On the anniversary of my 20th shave you're probably asking, why?
Well, it’s quite simple. Our daughter Kyra died from this most terrible disease.
Having bravely fought she eventually succumbed aged just 2½ years. To say that she fought bravely is a massive understatement. She was and still is the bravest person that I have ever had the privilege of knowing.
Her passing was devastating to both our family and those around us.
The years after her passing were extremely difficult. We had donated to other pediatric cancer charities, but we didn’t feel that we were doing enough.
Our daughters pediatric nurse suggested that we should look at St Baldrick’s, which had started 5 years earlier & who were mainly raising funds on the East Coast so we decided to do an event.
We owned a local Irish Pub, and this was we thought the ideal venue for this type of event.
We approached several of our friends, formed a committee, picked a date and crossed our fingers.
To our total surprise we raised $152,000 our first year and we were off and running.
Thanks to our most generous Las Vegas community, in the last 18 years raised approximately $8 million and our friends who created other events around the town have raised a further $6 million.
Let me say that in my 79 years on this earth it is the finest event that I have been involved in and I am so grateful to all of those you have made this possible both past & present.
Let’s make 2026 a banner year and break all records.
