Why am I shaving my head, and why should you care?
Back in 2019 I donated 16.5 inches of my hair to the organization "Wigs for Kids." That was very hard for me to do because I loved my hair and I loved it long. After that I honestly never thought I would be able do it again especially because now almost 6 years later I am still growing it out. However, last year Summit Hill Junior High participated in the St. Baldrick's Foundation fundraiser and I was so inspired from the participants willing to shave or donate hair by both the students and staff, that it encouraged me to want to participate. I knew how hard it was the first time to chop it off and after thinking about how some kids don't even get that choice, how much harder that had to be. I never knew how much my hair was apart of my identity until it got chopped off, and I figured if I could give some some sort of happiness back to someone else who has a lot more on their plate to deal with or maybe if my hair could even bring back a smile, I knew then it would be worth it. Thanks to this amazing community which I have been blessed to be apart of the past 2.5 years I got the courage to donate, that is why I am shaving my head, and you should care because everyone deserves a choice.
