I remember precisely where I was when I found out that Bray had been diagnosed. I remember the feeling everyone gets of "but that doesn't happen to me or people I know. Especially not kids." So when my buddy Jamie asked me to join this team and this cause, I saddled up without hesitation. And what a ride it has been. I can't remember how many years exactly I have been doing this and frankly, that statistic doesn't matter. Because I will do this until I don't have hair to shave off anymore.
Brayden has "rung the bell," indicating that he is cancer free, and I'm proud to say that I got to witness that moment.
But there are so many kids out there that haven't gotten to yet, and may not. What so many people don't know is that the money that is put into childhood cancer research is minimal compared to overall cancer research. What does that mean?
Well, it means that a lot of kids are getting dosages of chemo and other medications that are the same as adult dosages. Because the research isn't there to figure out what their bodies can handle vs an adult body. I don't think I need to explain to you what that can mean for them. So yeah, I am all in on this project and won't stop. Please help me out for this amazing cause.
Now for the "official" statement:
Why am I shaving my head with St. Baldrick’s? Because your donation “on my head” will actually save lives.
Kids with cancer need our support now more than ever. St. Baldrick’s is the largest non-government funder of childhood cancer research grants, and the pandemic has slashed donations, slowing down the progress to find cures.
Cancer kills more of our kids than any other disease. Research can change that, and I don’t want to let these kids down. Can you help? Thank you so much!
